Thesis Advisory Committee

The TAC is composed of three scientists, one nominated directly by the PD, and one from the host institution, and the other indicated by the student with the agreement of the supervisor; students’ supervisor(s) cannot belong to the TAC of the supervised student. The TAC is responsible to follow and monitor progress of each student research proposal, and to report annually to the PD. TAC is also responsible to solve potential conflicts between the student and the supervisor, or other unforeseen problems, and to report back immediately to the PD if the situation becomes insoluble at the TAC level. In this case, the EB must meet and propose, interacting closely with the respective TAC, a solution, after hearing all parties involved. At the very extreme, the EB can propose to the Board the replacement of a supervisor or the disqualification of a student.
